The MoH our educational institution aims to achieve the following: 1. Preparation of skilled, technical and professional personnel in the fields of pharmacy. 2. Meeting the needs of hospitals and health institutes with regard to pharmacists. 3. Preparation and organization of training courses and continuing education activities in different fields of health. 4. Participating in research activities for the development of health care and for improving the performance of workers in the related professional fields. 5. Participating in activities aimed at the development and support of community health. 6. Creating a supportive environment for the development and refinement of all aspects of a student character both at the personal and professional levels.


  • Objective 1

    The program, through its diverse courses, lab activities, supervised pharmacy practice and clinical training, aims to graduate national pharmacists as required by the Omani Health Services, able to carry out the following activities:

    1. Read, understand and then analyse the prescription, identify the medicament, the dosage prescribed and directions for use.

  • Objective 3

    2. Compound pharmaceutical preparations according to official pharmacopoeial standards and / or hospital pharmacy procedures.

  • Objective 4

    3. Select skilfully the proper tools and instruments used in preparing pharmaceutical preparations and know their specific requirements as to filling, packing and labelling.

  • Objective 5

    4. Provide advice and counseling to patients regarding the proper use of medications, herbal products, complementary and alternative medications as well as their specific precautions.

  • Objective 6

    5. Advise medical staff on the selection of appropriate drug therapy and new medications in the area of specialty.

  • Objective 7

    6. Monitor and evaluate patient drug therapies.

  • Objective 8

    7. Recognize over dosage in submitted prescriptions, predict the possible existence of either incompatibilities or drug-drug interactions, and alert the physician for necessary consultation with the prescribing.

  • Objective 9

    8. Prepare and issue demands / requests for drugs and other medical items from wards and other departments in hospitals.

  • Objective 10

    9. Maintain correct ways of storage of drugs, surgical, laboratory and miscellaneous items in dispensaries, pharmacies, medical stores or in hospital wards.

    10. Apply pharmacy laws and regulations in dispensing and stocking of toxic, psychotropic and narcotic drugs.

    11. Write reports on assigned work and present statistical data / reports as required.

  • Objective 13

    12. Communicate with other staff of the medical team and coordinate the approved pharmaceutical practices.

    13. Obtain necessary skills required to apply in quality control labs and drug factories.

    14. Play an active role in health education to the public, and in prevention and management of disease in accordance with evidence-based medicine, committed to professional ethics, continuous education and self-learning.

    15. Apply pharmaceutical expertise to help maximize drug efficacy and minimize drug side effects.
