Overview
The Committee aims to foster the quality culture among faculty, non-teaching staff and students, so that the actions of its members are inspired by the desire to continuously improve their practice. The committee also makes sure that the appropriate procedures or processes are in place. The Quality Assurance Committee strives to monitor academic standards so that they are preserved and enhanced.
Scope Of Activities

It is responsible for the overall quality assurance framework of Oman College of Health Sciences – South Sharqiya Branch.

It acts as a planning forum that benefits from the compiled periodical statistical results to promote quality enhancement, giving more focus on academic and students’ related activities.

The committee consists of the associate dean, senior members of faculty and administrative staff members. The members of the committee were appointed by the associate dean.

The committee helps the college with the accreditation process. In this venture, the committee members participate in various events pertaining to quality assurance, via. Workshops, seminars, and meetings.

The committee holds regular meetings with the staff to orient and coach them on the accreditation steps.

Overview
The committee is responsible for providing support for researches activities and identifying community service projects that faculty and students can participate in so that the branch perform its responsibilities toward the community.
Scope of Activities

Overview
The goal and mission of Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPD) at Oman College of Health Sciences- South Sharqiya Branch is to continuously facilitate and provide training to all faculty members in the branch for maintaining, enhancing, and acquiring knowledge and skills that will result in providing effective and innovative teaching, students counseling, and supporting services to the students as well the faculty.

Overview
The committee aims at overseeing that the assessment practices are planned and implemented according to the policies and are fit for the purpose.
Scope of activities

Develop an assessment plan for the written tests of all the running courses at the beginning of each semester as per the courses’ assessment guidelines which include the time, sessions, marks, venues, and invigilators.

Review and approve examination papers prepared by the course teacher(s) to ensure appropriate construction and proper distribution of questions as per examination blueprint.

Ensure that all stages in the preparation and processing of examination papers are conducted under strict confidentiality.

Ensure that test items are analyzed periodically and modified accordingly.

Ensure that all exams paper are effectively managed and strictly secured after each test.

Promote the students’ awareness of the roles and regulations of exams and report any misconduct.

Overview
Practicum Committee is set forth in order to facilitate, boost the communication between the Oman College of Health Science –South Sharqiya Branch and Sur Hospital and other health centres, enhance cooperation, and define the responsibility in order to ensure a comfortable, education control, beneficial clinical practice for OCHS-SSB students.
Scope of activities

Establish and develop mechanisms to foster integration and good relation amongst hospital staff and college staff and students.

Plan and arrange Nursing staff from the hospital/service side to supervise and conduct clinical examination at hospital as second (external) examiner

Assign specific nursing staff in different wards to be a second examiner

Develop and monitor the arrangements for student's clinical placement

Develop and monitor the arrangements for students transportation

Make arrangements for pre, post conference area and lectures as needed

Make arrangements for a availability of lockers in order to use by the students

Overview
The committee aims to ensure that adequate and appropriate teaching/learning resources are made available to the students. The learning resources committee is a combination of three main learning resources which are Demonstration Laboratory, Multi Media laboratory, and Library. All the three parties contribute to enhancing and promoting the learning experience within the college.

Identify the annual requirements of the teaching learning resources as per teachers’ feedback

Review the identified requirements and prioritize them.

Submit an annual a plan of the requirements to the colleges’ administration office.

Overview
The committee upholds the safety and health of the college’s branch and its staff and students.The committee aims to promote health, safety and welfare of all persons inside the college’s campus and its role extend where staff and students are engaged on activities in the nearby communities. The committee sole purpose is to prevent injuries and accidents among students and faculty members throughout training of staff and students in topics of accident prevention, emergency preparedness and use of protective measures to ensure healthy and safe learning and working environment.

Maintain safe, clean & secure environment within the college branch by conducting a visual surveys of the workplace and through the identification of health and safety concerns within the campus.

Conduct regular scheduled meetings to discuss accident and illness prevention methods, safety and health promotion, hazards noted on inspections and other pertinent subjects.

Reinforce the importance of maintaining a safe clinical environment for both the instructors as well as the learners by initiating and implementing a system to gather safety related suggestions and report of hazards and other concerns from clinical instructors as well as the students enrolled in the clinical areas.

Identify health problems of the students and maintain a health status record for students with health problems including interventions and prognosis.

Encourage healthy lifestyle among college’s staff and students through surveys and increase employees’ and students’ health and safety awareness and knowledge.

Develop and implement community health awareness projects in collaboration with health and other related professionals within the governorate targeting the college’s campus as well as the outside aggregates

Report occurring health and other health issues within the institute.

Maintain incidental reports on clinical incidents that happen with in the clinical areas.

Review corrective measures and make written recommendations to correct the hazard and submit it to management for timely response. This is an accomplished by taking actions to correct the identified hazards and by developing suggestion for management in collaboration with the college’s dean’s office as well as the administration department.

Promote safety, first aid training, evacuation drill and fire safety training for both the college’s faculty members and the learning students.

Implement health promotion and specific protection activities to students and staff (immunization, health education campaign).

Develop and monitor the arrangements for counseling/ advisory support for students as set out in the Policies and Procedure Manual and on the basis of reports from the Deans, the Advisors of Female and Male Students, and other providers concerned with student well-being.

Overview
Students’ affair committee is set forth in order to give students general notice of their rights and responsibilities at Oman College of Health Sciences-South Sharqiya Branch abides by the role of Oman College of Health Sciences to educate its students and to stimulate students’ autonomy and independence, and monitor, follow up the process of counseling.
Scope of Activities

Establish and review principles, policies and procedures for obtaining student opinion through surveys and in other ways where practicable, acting to remedy deficiencies revealed.

Review the procedures related to students’ complaints and non-academic misconduct, on the basis of reports from students, faculty, hospital staff, administrative staff and people from community

Overview
OCHS -South Sharqiya newsletter is issued on yearly basis by the college newsletter/ publication committee with two purposes in mind. First, we aim at shedding light on all annual activities and events of the college. Thus, promoting the creative abilities of teaching and non-teaching staff, alumni members and students. Second, we covet boosting ties between stakeholders, local educational institutions, co-institutions and community by virtue of apprising citizens of miscellaneous activities and events that take place in our college.
Scope of Activities

To create, develop and publish a formal newsletter for Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) - South Sharqiya Branch annually that shall highlight the activities of the college, teaching and non-teaching staff, alumni and students anchored by the college mission, vision and values.

The concept development and publication of newsletter will help build better management of information, communication and awareness of the institutional related activities and engagements.

The newsletter committee observes the process of collecting, retrieving, assessing and presenting information about the college annual activities from valued and legitimate contributors. The information in print aims to develop community awareness and boost ties among and between other institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.

The issue of the newsletter undergoes certain phases. Initially, the staff and students are invited to contribute to the newsletter with their articles. Once the articles are received, the English teachers rigorously edit, compile and sort them systematically. The other members facilitate technical issues. Then, the members approach DGHS for the purpose of funding the newsletter print. The newsletter print is usually done by a local printing press. Once, the newsletter has been printed, it is disseminated by the Associate Dean of Oman College of Health Sciences to local organizations and the stakeholders.
