The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is built on the belief that curriculum is dynamic, progressive and evolved according the needs. Hence, this program adapts to and adopts the global trends in nursing education taking into consideration the local needs. The main goal of this program is to produce competent and safe practitioners capable of providing holistic health care, advancing the profession, and influencing changes in the health care system. The BSN is four years duration (Eight regular semesters) with total credit hours of 125 after completion of Foundation Program. The program is in par with the Oman Qualification Framework for Higher Education. The curriculum is competency based, and it is proportionally balanced with courses from humanity, basic and health sciences, and nursing courses. The nursing courses are designed to allow students moving from simple to complex and from broader concepts to more specific. The theory-clinical ratio is balanced to ensure students develop cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills required for entry-level nursing practice. Therefore, this program functions within the scope of the philosophy and policies of the Ministries of Health and Higher Education that reflect His Majesty’s views and beliefs of self-development of Omani people in the context of their socio-cultural background. The program supports the current National Health Policy that upholds the national values and the right of every individual to receive safe and quality health care.
