Associate Dean's Message
Dear Student,
On behalf of the Faculty and staff, I would like to express our pleasure in welcoming you to the Foundation Program. I am pleased that you opted to join the Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) and I am sure your one-year Foundation Program with us will be a stimulating and rewarding experience.
The Handbook is designed to provide you with essential information about the academic calendar, the curriculum of the Foundation Program, academic progression, and rules and regulations of the program.
In an effort to provide you with a positive environment, the Foundation Program has identified guidelines, policies and procedures that address our expectations of students as members of the Institute community. This Handbook serves as a resource for this information, including your rights and responsibilities.
The document on Academic Progression describes the evaluation process and how marks are awarded. It also states what you can do if you do not pass a course. An outline on rules and regulations gives you directions on how you may fulfill the professional requirements and what actions may be taken against you if you fail to abide by those rules. It is your responsibility to verify issues which are not clear to you.
You are required to take your studies seriously and consider them as a full-time job. I have listed some points for you to follow in order to achieve your academic and professional success. These are:
- Locate and utilize all learning resources.
- Abide by the academic and professional rules and regulations of the Program.
- Develop mastery of English Language (Medium of Instruction) which has a direct relationship with your performance in other courses.
- . Learn to communicate effectively in classroom and elsewhere.
- Be responsible for your academic progress by evaluating your academic performance regularly and taking the necessary steps to overcome any weakness.
I hope you will make good use of the information provided in this Handbook. It will be beneficial for you if you read it thoroughly and keep it as a handy reference throughout your program.
Once again, I welcome you to the Foundation Program and hope your educational experience here will be a positive one.
Dr. Salim Msellem Al-Hashmi
