The Higher Institute of Health Specialties was officially opened as the Oman Specialized Nursing Institute in 2001, the Institute started with three specialized programs granting a Post Basic Diploma in Specialty, until then, the Institute expanded to include programs at the level of Postgraduate Diploma in (9) different specialties in addition to the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program
