The Research Committee aims at conducting an active advocacy program to promote and support research carried by faculty and students. It directs the potential researcher to focus on health and medical research, including public health and health awareness and the latest trends and issues in the nursing profession.

Scope of activities

• • Review the level of current research activities in the institute and staff needs to identify the gaps

• • Develop annual research plan that is in line with the five year strategic plan and supports the institute's vision and mission

• • Maintain a record of staff with their respective research experiences including articles published by them

• • Organize and conduct research training activities

• • Develop collaborative research project in collaboration with other institutions

• • Encourage students to conduct research through Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award Program (FURAP) scholarships which are granted by The Research Council of Oman (TRC)

• • Facilitate and encourage the sharing of professional knowledge, research findings and information between faculty, students and practitioners

• • Review the research proposals based on the standards and regulations before submitting the proposal to the concerned research and ethics committee

• • Prepare annual report on committee's achievements, research activities, challenges and enhancement plan

About

The CPD committee provides opportunities for the staff to develop their capacities and potentials in the field of nursing education and practice. Continuing professional development (CPD) involves maintaining and enhancing the knowledge, skills and experience related to professional activities and development of those personal qualities that are required for carrying out professional and technical duties during a professional’s life.

Scope of Activities

• • Identify training needs of the faculty and staff.

• • Prepare annual plan for continuing education activities and annual statistics.

• • Identify trainers from the college and from other departments to contribute to the CPD activities.

• • Prepare and conduct workshops and CPD activities in collaboration with the concerned parties.

• • Evaluate the CPD activities

• • Maintain record of CPD activities for future reference.

• • Update the staff manual

• • Prepare annual report on committee's achievements, challenges and enhancement plan

About

The committee aims at overseeing that the assessment practices are planned and implemented according to the policies of the Ministry of Health Educational Institutes

Scope of activities

• • Develop annual assessment plan for written tests at the beginning of each semester

• • Ensure that an examination blueprint is prepared for each course as per types of questions, level of objectives and time spent.

• • Review and approve examination papers prepared by the course teacher(s) to ensure appropriate construction and proper distribution of questions as per examination blueprint

• • Ensure that all stages in the preparation and processing of examination papers are conducted under strict confidentiality.

• • Ensure that continuous and final written examinations are moderated as per the moderation policy guidelines

• • Ensure that test items are analyzed periodically and modified accordingly.

• • Oversee conduct of examination and invigilation in accordance with policies and procedures.

• • Update internal assessment and examination related guidelines.

• • Prepare annual report on committee's achievements, challenges and enhancement plan.

About

The committee aims is to ensuring safety of the faculty and of students in the college and prevent from accident, injury or disease. It also includes training of staff and students in accident prevention, emergency preparedness and use of protective clothing and equipment.

Scope of activities

• • Develop annual Health and safety plans that is in line with the five year strategic plan and supports the institute's vision and mission

• • In collaboration with civil defense ensure that college policies/procedures comply with national legal requirements for health and safety

• • Coordinate with civil defense to conduct awareness session on fire fighting and evacuation plan and conduct fire evacuation drill exercise evacuation;

• • Maintain a register of students with health problem and monitor their health status.

• • Update risk register and the emerging risk, monitor risk and facilitate mitigation of risks;

• • Update Health and safety manual

• • Prepare annual report on committee's achievements, challenges and enhancement plan.
