Welcome Message
It is my honor to welcome you to the Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) website. The College was established through a Royal Decree # 18/2018 as a result of the amalgamation of the Ministry of Health Educational Institutes. We are pleased to share our health professional programs, the contributions made in developing the local workforce, and their potential in shaping and advancing the healthcare system in Oman. Our strong commitment to responding to healthcare services could be traced back to the early days of the renaissance. By the direction of the late HM Sultan Qaboos, the first vocational institute under the MoH was established in 1972 (Al Rahmaa School of Nursing). Ten years later, the Institute of Health Sciences was founded. The early 1990s, witnessed the most significant expansion, and Regional Nursing Institutes were established across the country, followed by Pharmacy, Public Health, Health Information Management. Currently, there are six undergraduate programs: Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, and health Information Management. These professional programs constitute the core of the OCHS commitments in building health workforces and reflect one of the main pillars of Oman 2040. Graduates of the OCHS, and the Ministry of Health Educational Institutes reached almost 13,723 in different healthcare disciplines at undergraduate level.
Our mission is to prepare competent healthcare professionals by providing a conducive learning environment and quality evidence-based practices and research programs. The College delivers education that offers our students the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes to succeed in their careers, advance their profession, and positively influence the healthcare system to promote health and wellbeing. We passionately believe in our mission that is both pragmatic in nature and cultivating unique Omani virtues inherent in our society. We are aligned with OAAAQA educational standards and parallel to Global trends in health and education. Graduates are highly sought, and many opportunities are open for career success through in-service training, internships, and continuous professional development activities.
We would like to invite you to visit our website and learn more about our programs.
